ABOUT GEORGE

George Giavis is an award-winning Master colourist.

Colour has always fascinated him and after working at some of the world’s most renowned salons in New York and London, he returned to the Sydney suburb of Woollahra to establish one of Australia’s first colour specialist salons. This iconic salon is now a hairdressing institution within Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.

George has been quietly colouring the hair of Australia’s rich and famous for over 30 years.

Known for his discretion, precision highlighting and ability to create natural, luminous colours, without compromising the condition or health of the hair, it’s no wonder many “natural” blondes, brunettes and redheads frequent the private and plush suites of his celebrated salon.

The George Giavis Salon first opened its doors at 110A Queen Street, Woollahra, in 1995. George fashioned his luxurious salon with one single goal in mind – to indulge every client with a level of luxury and elegance never seen before in Australia.

George believes that a cut and colour should be “the perfect marriage”. As both a colour and cutting expert, he colours the hair to create the perfect canvas for the cut. The result is a total look where cut and colour work in perfect synergy.

When it comes to hairdressing services, colour is seen as a long-haul treatment.  George has carefully crafted his salon to make the colour experience akin to a luxurious beauty spa. Each client is given a private suite, enabling them to work remotely, hold Zoom meetings,  enjoy a breakfast, lunch or dinner.  “We are not a ‘fish bowl’ salon. We offer a private, peaceful space that’s unlike any other hair salon.”

This unique approach has built George a strong and loyal following within Sydney Eastern Suburbs. His salon is only 15 minutes from Sydney’s CBD, a short walk from Paddington, Bondi Junction and Edgecliff.

George is known for having exquisite taste and an eye for what glamorous women want. He is always on the lookout for the latest hair and beauty products on his travels.
